The People’s Republic allows family, friends, neighbours and complete strangers, to support creative and innovative projects that transform their community.
We work with individuals, local authorities, housing associations and local business networks, to create bespoke digital platforms that represent a community. We then help that community to find and create awesome projects through workshops, training and support.
We also have a generic platform for anyone to use, should your neighbourhood or community not have a platform.
Once the platform is up, projects can be created by anyone in that community. We review all projects for suitability, judging them on the quality of the presentation of the projects, their goals, and the level of organisation and commitment demonstrated by the teams behind them. Where possible, we like to create platform boards combining members of the community, sponsors, housing associations, councils and corporates.
If you support a project, you will automatically receive updates about it. You can also interact directly with the team behind the project by leaving a comment on the project, or sending them a message.
What is crowdfunding?
Peoples Republic is a crowdfunding and community innovation platform. Crowdfunding is sponsorship by a crowd of many donors, each making an individual, small donation in return for a small reward, like a t-shirt or the name of a flowerbed. People’s Republic provides a platform to showcase projects to a potentially huge audience, giving sponsors an easy way to donate and creating better on and off line communities in an area.
How do I create a project?
Simply login and enter a few key details: a description of what you want to do, a funding target and completion date, and some rewards for pledges. Images and videos can also bring your project to life! We offer advice, tips, and feedback all along the way.
Are there any fees?
If you put a project on our general site, then we will take 5% commission to cover operational costs, in addition to the % charged by your payment processor, ie. PayPal or Stripe. If you put your project on your local People’s Republic site, then there may be as little as no commission charged. If your community isn’t represented on a local People’s Republic site, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Every project must achieve its minimum needed by its completion date or no funds change hands. Why? Part of the appeal of crowdfunding is that sponsors get to engage with projects and see where their money is going. This keeps everyone happy!
